Our Haines chinoiserie embodies the glamour and confidence of Hollywood decorator Billy Haines.
Originally developed for The Goring in 2024, Haines is our chinoiserie design inspired by an 18th-century original installed at Winfield House — the London residence of the American Ambassador. It pays tribute to the stately interiors championed by its namesake, Hollywood decorator Billy Haines.
There’s a delightful tension between tradition and the unexpected. Delicate blossom, shimmering surfaces and a softness of colour are offset by boldly stylised rocks and a sculptural foreground. Here, gently undulating, hill-like forms give the grass ground a playful rhythm. These unexpected details bring a fresh perspective to the familiar elegance of chinoiserie, creating something both graceful and quietly eccentric.
