We have always been fascinated by what can happen when two disciplines collide. In the early 1950s, English abstract artist Kenneth Martin began an intense period of self-education in mathematics and practical geometry. The results had a profound effect on his, and his wife Mary's, work.
Our Construct cushion is inspired by their screw mobile structures, which featured long metal rods that created sweeping fans of light. With our cushion, these geometric forms are hand-rendered using a mixture of metallic embroidery threads on a velvet background.
