Lucia—named after St. Lucia—captures the luminous spirit of the tropics in this vibrant interpretation of Nandina. Golden-yellow peonies unfurl against bamboo stalks in fresh spring green, while delicate butterflies dance across the scene. This radiant palette brings an air of perpetual sunshine to any space.
A fresh and clean composition featuring copious butterflies and no birds, Nandina is one of our more contemporary Chinoiserie layouts. Contrasting tones in the foliage give a strong sense of foreground and background, which provides the composition with a lovely feeling of depth. Specially created to have no ground, the scene creates a less literal landscape with more graphic lines. And of course the absence of base makes it perfect for rooms featuring a dado rail or a half-height panelling.
